I’m Saving My Life

image

Alhamdullillah.
Artinya saya tak terlalu tergantung sekali dgn angka 10k.
Tak berarti saya tak suka banyak- banyak lari.
Sebaliknya malah.
Saya sukaaa sekali lari. Saya jatuh cinta kepada lari.
Lari, olah tubuh, aktifitas luar ruang, yg, pada dasarnya mengandalkan hanya badan/ tubuh kita saja.
Keren.
Lari.
Me time.
Saat saat saya menemukan ilham, ide, inspirasi. Hal- hal yang mencerahkan.
Saya rindu akan lari- lari jauh saya. Sendiri atau bersama yang lain.
Belasan k, half atau bahkan fullmarathon.
Apalagi lari- lari ultra.
Spontan lari keluar kota. Lari- lari muncak gunung.
Jadi saya beruntung sekali.
Aamiin.
Salam:)

Mengenal Medan Berlari Trel

runLimitless

Pantai Pendawa Bali. Garmin Photo Session.

Apalagi lari muncak gunung. ” pelajari dahulu trek yang akan dilalui.Beri tahu orang terdekat, kapan kita berangkat dan kapan perkiraan turun”.
Tentu saja berlaku juga di kita.
Atau, seringkalinya malah setelah beres muncak sendirian, lebih dulu saya sampai dirumah ketimbang whatsapp saya terbaca orang rumah 🙂 .

Trek1- trek2-

Lereng Gunung Burangrang.

kelimutu=BRomo-

Kiri: Danau Tiga Warna Kelimutu. Kanan: Bukit Pasir Bromo.

Sampai sebelum panjatan. Dan kembali. #newbiefriendly.

GarminPhotoShoot0750TamanJayaPantai-

Kiri: Pantai Pendawa, Bali. Kanan: Pantai Taman Jaya, Ujung Kulon.

Langkah kaki dan pijakan.
Perhatikan pijakan kita disini.

wpid-2014-02-01-05-18-46.png

Menjelang Jembatan Setan Gunung Merbabu.

Tapi, sedikit demi sedikit tapi pasti , kita akan sampai pada titik ” Yes! i did it!” . Akhirnya bisa lari2 rutin sekian puluh menit setiap hari. Atau jika diinginkan bahkan sampai berlari trel ultra muncak Rinjani.
Selamat pagiiii 🙂

Di bawah Cut Off Time yang 12 jam.
Maka semakin semangatlah saya untuk berusaha sekuat tenaga agar bisa finish sebelum Cut Off Time.
Tanjakan, turunan, dingin, panas, angin, gerimis, pasir, haus, letih, lelah.Semua silih berganti .. Tanjakan-tanjakan sadiis, turunan-turunan cadas, walaupun berat tapi entah mengapa begitu senang saya menjalaninya..
Begitu tulisan FINISH tampak didepan saya, rasa harupun kembali tak terelakan.
Yeayy saya berhasil menjadi ULTRA RUNNER, finish my 1st Ultra trail 50k dengan waktu 11 jam 12 menit!!
What an amazing race, amazing route, amazing view, amazing people.. Thank you committee for a beautiful race & I will come back next year!!

Age is just a number……. by Dewi Satriyani

Age is just a number…….

November 26, 2013 at 3:33pm

But on top of that, dari beliau saya belajar mengalahkan rasa takut, terutama takut masuk hutan dan berlari di perbukitan.

Teman- teman Saya Yang Hebat

26 November.
Selang beberapa puluh menit masuk sms/ bbm teman2 mengucapkan selamat ulang- tahun.
Satu, dua, beberapa sekaligus.
Tiba2 saja saya mempunyai kekuatan lagi.
Padahal kisah saya diatas hanyalah 30an km saja.
Teman2, kalian sungguh luar- biasa.

I Did It! Bromo Tengger Semeru 100 Ultra 2013 by Maggie Kim hong Yeo

Maggie001 Maggie002 Maggie003 Maggie004 Maggie005 Maggie006It was meant to be. I was to run the 50 km after tossing and turning about whether I should run longer or not. Afterall, I have just completed a full marathon on the week before on 17 November 2013.Arrived at Surabaya 2 days earlier was great. Coz I for the first time a long time felt I am on holiday. And this trip is my birthday holiday. Met up with Chris Paul Kawinda who kindly checked me into a local hotel coz I arrived real late in the nite. Unfortunately, I had a fall and hurted my left knee after I had a shower on the slippery floor…The next day, we went off to Fitri Ismiyanti place where I stayed the nite at this wonderfully happy spirited lady, a very motiviated and enthusiatic runner. We had such wonderful time laughing eating and even went to meet up with some Indo Runners that evening. So the next morning off we went to Bromo in 2 MPVs and we arrive Lava View Hotel (this is the startline of 100km and 165 km events). Such a lovely view indeed as the hotel name said. Weather was great, cool and calm.Got my racepack, took heaps of photos and met so many other runners.

At 4 am, we were transported to Ranepane, where the startline of 50 km event.

At 5 am sharp, the race begin, and by then the sun has broken into this beautiful mountain. I decided to take off my headlight and put on my cap instead.

After running for about 5 km, my Garmin watch decided to die on me coz I must have accidentally press on the start button while it was in my luggage. Lesson learn, next time I must wear it on my wrist while on the way to race event. Also, I forgot to bring along the charger.

Anyhow I felt great with or without my garmin watch, coz my motive for this event is to graduate into being not just an ultra runner, but to be a real mountain trail ultra runner, so time is no essence…

Shortly after my garmin watch died, I managed to push myself through to lead the ladies pack.

From then on, I was happily running, power walking, through the forest, through the mountain slopes, indeed I was happy, so many has cheered me on. It was unbelievable how many called on to my name. I dont think I can remember all of them. Yet these callings brings such joy to me.

One of the runners, Stefan Knudsen from Denmark decided to tag along and we were happily moving on passing a great number of runners. Along the way, I am unable to remember all names, if you remember, please tag yourself here.

From Ranupane 2100 m down and up to Ranu Kombolo 2400 m W3 station where I decided not to refill anything. Just kept on going to Kalimati 2700 m and had my first drink up of my Fitliine Performance sachet and very quickly making my way to Ranu Kumbolo W4 station. Had a another quick drink of the Fitline Performance sachet and again quickly left the station of W3. These are all beautiful sub tropical not quite tropical, coz the weather is pretty cool, cant tell you the temperature unfortunately, but very comfortable feel and not sweating. Love the view and trees the climb.

Shortly after I arrive at km 25, I came to a junction with 3 ribbons, this was where I got lost. Both me and Stefan decided to turn left and after plodding for a while, we notice there was no more ribbons. Aaagh, we stopped, hesitated and decided to u-turn to get back to the original ribbon. By this time the sun was getting rather fierce.

We ran back unfortunate, we notice the ribbon did tell us to run to the left! And off we got back to the left again and ran all the way to the next junction and this was where we met Rizal Hakeem, we had a chat and told him we have already done this turn and if we run it again, we will be doing our second time on this loop. Nevertheless, there was no other choice but to do the loop one more time.

Then we got to the same junction again and then we turn right instead and then came to the ribbon where we had to go down the very steep hill… yes, here we had lotsa fun… I tried to run down with much difficulties. Finally after less than 5 minutes, I decided to sit on my butt and just let nature take its course… I slide down all the way while the rest of the runners were watching unbelievably at what I was doing. I bet they all did the same after that!!

So I managed to turn something rather dangerouss into something rather fun!! Reminded me of the times when I was liviing In New Zealand when in the summer we often take our flatten cardboxes and go down Mt Victoria at Devonport at the North Shore of Auckland with my kids.

By then I was of course actually hurrying coz I have lost a good 30 minutes too, thats why I decided to slide down… I had to catch up with lost time. Some of the runners have mentioned to me there were quite a few female runners who had passed. So my lead has vanished, alas..

Suddenly from the heat and the weakness, I had 2 energy bars and got back to being strong again. It is amazing to note here, when ones heart decided to get strong, the brain will just follow…

My journey at BTS, became stronger and stronger again….

At some stage here, Stefan who has been faithfully following right behind me deided that he had no more water in the Platypus and get left behind.

I on the other hand had started the next incline to Jempalang. Oh dear, what can I say, this never ending climb took forever.. km 30 just about towards km 35 are the hardest. Because in a marathon, km 35 we start to hit the wall. But I refused to let this never ending incline to give me the negative feeling. I took my Fitline Performance sachet again and kept on going.

Trust me, there were so many Ojek, motorbikers that shouted to to ask if I wanna a lift.. Haha, I have a running bib. No thanks. Along the way, also passed many other runners. So I know I was doing really well in this incline being able to pass others.

So passed W5A station 2400m. And then the down started, I rushed through these broken cement slabs, passing Hui Mathews and her husband along the way, I just ran as I did when I did the Bromo Marathon.. the feeling was great.

Then suddenly, the facade was to change…

The sand start to appear! Wow, the scenery was amazing, beautiful, but the soft sand will be yet another challenge. The savannah look and waves of the sand.. just unbeatable!

I ran along passing yet another lady runner and then I caught up with Handy Trisakti and told him I will try to tag along with him, coz I saw how he walked at an amazing pace. I shall try to keep as close to him as possible.

Coz here, I am starting to feel the lethargic of my legs. After some major running downhill. I was surprised by my own want of my heart. Indeed, I managed to keep up with him.

Shortly after, another set of beautifully made sand dunes started to show. Wow! That was in my mind. This is where I started to eat my Korma, dried dates and sip my drinks.

Beautiful and how am I going to conquer these never ending sand dunes, with the sand storms blowing very often. At some stage Handy had sand in his mouth!!! Full of them, he was complaining, by then I had my glasses on. But I decided I did not need the buff as I was too lazy to take it out from my bag and it will slow me down as well. But the glasses was really good, coz it protected my eyes…

Both of us kept going up and down and up and down those dunes. Soft as they were, beautiful as they were, if u are not careful, you will step wrongly and will roll down these tiny hills and then climbing up again will be a great bother!!

Finally we managed to catch up with another 2 more runners and we were in a pack of 4. We just kept on going and I and Handy managed to take over and got to the next station where I decided to take off my shoes unload the sand (not wearing the gaiter from the start was a great mistake, I should have but I did not). So finally, refill my drinks and had a cafeine gel coz I ran out of my Fitline Performance sachet.

As we started to move I saw Jane Djuarahadi, from the top yelling down as she moved off to complete her run. Both me and Handy went up the steps and down again. Hurrying down, and shortly after that I saw the girl in her hijap again, running infront of me. I was like, hmm where did she come from. I didnt see her passing me at all…

Nevertheless, she was just ahead of me by not much. Then we came to another incline. This is the final incline before we reach Lava View Hotel where the finish line is.

The finish was at 2240m..
The finish was exhilarating…
The finish was an accomplishment to me..
The finish graduated me into a true Mountain Trail Ultra runner…

Something I have been dreaming of since I DNF at Mt MOUNT RINJANI ULTRA!!

I did it! I did my 50 km in 10 hours 8 minutes…

The Interview

My answers to one of many interviews i’ve had.

Mengapa lari (dan bukan sepeda, nge gym, triathlon)?

Running has always been one of my dream.
It’s a pretty cool sport, where you have only your own body to depend on. with no extra help, unlike biking, swimming in a pool or any other certain physical activities.
You can pretty much do it anywhere, anytime. By yourself or with anyone else.
The reason i only got to do it now is solely because of that i was worried i wouldn’t’ve been able to do it.
I was born with asthma and bronchytis.
It was so overwhelming that at the tender age of 3 months, they claimed i was helpless.

Kapan mulai lari, dan sejak saat itu apa beda yang anda rasakan (dari segala sisi kehidupan, feel free to answer from any, or all, aspect)?

I actually tried running on 2000. I happened to see a couple of people did it on the tennis field (which i happen to not do anymore for 6 years).
It only lasted for a year ( a slow jog for 20 laps everyday). It was probably due to exhaustion (both tennis and my lack of dietery knowledge) tha i got hep. A.
I stayed in the hospital for 11 days.
It wan’t until 2010 that i got myself to do it again.
I made sure to consult on my health to a doctor this time.
I felt okay before. Normal. But after i did it a couple of times, i found myself to be in a way better condition than i’ve been before.
I rarely cough, nor have any asthma episode, i could even drink iced water.
It only gotten better after i started trail running for a couple of months.
Then even though i’m not exactly one of those gym bunnies, i can at least claim that i have a pretty good physique.
I fell in love with running. Mountain running. Especially when i’m by myself, like having a true me-time.
I get to be with my thoughts when i run. And at the same time i could think of planning of my next steps in life ahead of time.
This goes along really well with my job as a house planner, where i get strokes of ideas when i run.
I even sometimes think to myself “why didn’t i thought of that before?”.

I was perfectly happy before, but thankfully gotten even way happier after running.
Like for instance, i stopped and think how awesome it is to marvel at the wondrous nature and surrounding at a short period amount of time.
Instant mountain hopping, one day climbing. I went on the morning and got home by the evening.
Pretty cool, with little to no fuzz, like any hiking normally would be.

How many ultra runs (di atas 42.2km) and what’s the longest run, you’ve participated in, and can you share what went through your mind for such a long journey, and were there any point in which it was particularly challenging?

I do a lot of ultra runs by myself.
It started from my love and running and the realization that i’m not exactly young anymore. At the age of 54, i’m not able to do any routine training (as much as i probably should have), probably not a good thing to follow either.
I do ultra runs to accelerate. Meaning after 3 months of running, i did approximately 50-70k of long runs. By the 5th month, i’ve done about 80-100 k.
I remember during Bintaro- Bogor- Bintaro, i have the urge to meet with Kang Hendra Wijaya.
I had to do it twice, cause he couldn’t make it at first (97k).
Bintaro- Muara Angke- Bintaro, 66km.
– Bintaro-  Tangerang- Karawaci- BSD.95km.
– Sukabumi- Ujunggenteng, 126km,
-Pangalengan- Rancabuaya, 88km,
-The North Face Singapore trail race, 50km( 2nd trail run race).
-Kamojang, Jawa- Barat Trail Race. 25 +18km(2 etappe). Yes it’s only local, but i feel like i should include it.
This means the most to me, cause it’s my very 1st race. And i got 2nd place, of only 5 runners.Haha..
1st place (by 15 minutes at the 1st ettape, 25 k) was a 40 year old former athlete.
The 3rd place was a runner who’s started running longer than i had, also in his 40’s, presumably also a former athlete.
The track was unbelievable. There’s one that was about 1 km across a 50 cm deep river with a pretty rough stream, while the surrounding trees are so low that forced us to run while slightly bending over every now and then.
I have to thank Muara Sianturi, who also participated. Not for deciding to not join the ettape the next day, but for convincing me to join the race at all.
And i’m pretty sure he let me won 2nd place, which he could totally have won if he wanted to.
He was one of my mentors, along with Jerry Karundeng and a few others.

– Went on a power trail to 3 mountains, Salak, Gede, Pangrango, 65k with Kang Hendra Wijaya, Rudy Ansyah, Djawa, and some few others.
– Coast2Coast ( BromoTenggerSemeru). Running from the North coast of Java to the South coast of Java, through Bromo, Ranupane, Ranukumbolo. 134k
– Bandung- Cianjur- Bandung, 99k. At the Run & Roses event with Hendra Wijaya, Bugi. I picked Bugi up who ran from Bogor to Bandung, to give roses for his girlfriend who lives in Bandung.
– Bandung Karawang, 92k at the Allianz event.
– Kawahputih- Cidaun- Sindangbarang- Agrabinta, 159k with Hendra Wijaya & Rudy Ansyah.

– Bandung- Tasikmalaya, 99k.

How many long distance event have you participated in, and which one is most memorable, and why?

The North Face Singapore was the only long run event i’ve ever participated in.
But the most memorable one was probably the Kinabalu Climbathlon that wasn’t a long trail race.
With a name that majestic, it’s also notorious as the toughest mountain trail run event in the world.
Of course everyone was more than eager to conquer it. Especially for me, who is more than thankful for being able to partake at this age.
And i finished it at a normal pace. The COT was 3hrs 30 mins to the top (the veteran group).
During a couple of km left to the top (forgot when exactly), i found a couple of racers to be overwhelmed by it. Like they were starving and thirsty. Some were helping others by bringing them food and drinks till everyone managed to get back on their feet.
I was caught off guard for a while realizing how little my experience i had was.
So instead of continuing the race, i just stopped and overthink everything that could go wrong. Like what if that happened to me?
I didn’t realize how long i was stopping. After dusting myself off i continued the race.
At 3850 mdpl (The Kinabalu top is 4052 mdpl) i arrived at just the time limit (COT) of 3 hours 30 mins.
Which means i’m DNF.
But for some reason i feel no regrets whatsoever. Eventhough i longed to win it at first.
I felt like i was more than content.
Sure i didn’t get the medal i could show off to people. But the validation that i could finish the race was enough for me.
I didn’t participate in any race eversince.

After the last Kinabalu event i mostly do local trail run events, and i decided to just do so. Which turned out to be more challenging for me, a lot more fun and more beautiful.
I also feel the responsibility to re-introduce my country to people outside.

What is your biggest running achievement (does’t have to be race related)?

I think every experience was a great achievement for me.

How do you keep yourself motivated, to continue running?

Sport is an invesment to our health for now and in the future. And to me running is the best.
I think of running as the lowest form of a high health insurance. Not only that, t also make me feel good, and happier.
Sounds exaggerating but that’s how i feel.

What would be your most important advise, to beginner runners?

It’s so simple to just start with very much benefits. If you ever have any doubts of starting something, be my guest. But if it’s running,
Just run, once it is done, the rest is addiction.

What is your running goal, race wise? What is your running goal, in general?

My goal is to take tiny steps but faster and further everytime. Hopefully by the end of 2014 i could join the triathlon.

Who’s your favorite runner, and why?

My favorite runners are the new ones wo just started but already have high spirits. They’re the ones who motivate me to do more.
Because no matter how simple running is, getting started is the hardest part.

Barefoot shoes or anything with thin soles. laceless for practicallity. As for dangerous terrains such as cliffs, steep steps i go with Salomon S-Lab… and.. err Eiger for sure 🙂 . For average category i choose Teva and New Balance.

Thing About Breathing

ThingAboutBreathingI have a hard time trying to practice several theories on breathing. Not that i’m unconvinced or anything, because they’re mostly based on experiences. Maybe cause i have asthma & bronchitis, i found them hard to do. Whichever theory i tried, i only end up doing the normal or the basic way. The faster or better my running goes, the need for oxygen income is getting more important, therefore i need to adapt to the pace.Eventually i do a lot more breathing through the mouth. And that’s what i normally do to this point. My point is our breathing mechanism will adapt to its need eventually. As time goes by, we will find our own way

Dream Big My Friends, What Can Be Imagined Can Be Achieved.

.AndreBlumberg

Four years ago I had a dream, an aspiration. I was a fat bum at the time, workaholic, borderline alcoholic, clubaholic and couchaholic. I somewhere read about people that actually run longer (!) than a marathon distance, go figure. They called it “ultra” marathon.

The complete nutters among these people would do something I had only ever come across from watching tennis on TV: do a “grand slam” consisting of four hundred mountain milers within the span of ten weeks. Total bonkers. But hey, it sounded kinda cool and to a man drawn to extremes it had a certain appeal. Age 39 at the time, deliberating “what’s next”, buying a Porsche would have been cool also, but would have been way too easy. Then my annual medical came back: grossly obese, 208 cholesterol, 150 LDL. The price of living the good life.

Hearing about Rich Roll‘s own transformation when turning 40, I decided not to buy a car but focus on health and well-being. I quit alcohol cold turkey, did a few detoxes, changed my nutrition to mostly plant-based and dropped 65lbs in six months. Then I needed a new outlet for my renewed youth – let’s give this ultra-running a try. So in early 2010, I decided to go big and do the grand slam “one day”. In the meantime I kept myself entertained with ultras in Asia-Pacific mostly. Three years and three Western States lotteries later and I was in and quickly signed up for the other three US based 100 milers. So 2013 became “one day”.

Last weekend I realised my dream. I finished the Grand Slam of Ultrarunning, a series dating back to 1986 which only 254 people, including the fat bum, have ever accomplished (with a few doing it several times). Nothing to take away from climbing Everest, but that’s been done by close to 8,000 people and is a pretty big achievement, right?

Dream big my friends. What can be imagined can be achieved.

4 in the morning, quicker than expected. i could spot a small light in the distance. I suspected it was the track for the runners around Segara Anak. I was with Jane Djuarahadi, Femina Group photographer, was holding down the post 4, Plawangan.
jane and myself were on The 8th Team, the one who came up with this event. With  Hendra Wijaya and  Nefo Ginting as the some sort of project manager. The other 4 were  Florenciano Hendricus Mutter , Djawa Wijoyo Kusumo , Josephine Pipin, and Rudy Ansyah.
I did ok, but the rest did wonderful. jane who is also a trail runner, along with Pipin, the finisher of The North Face 50k trail run in Singapore. Both like to travel, for both hobby or work.
Hendra Wijaya is no stranger to anyone, finisher of many trail runs in Singapore, HK, Philipine, Australia, japan and the last one is UTMB.
He also the one who came up with Lari Gunung Nusantara, Garmin supported mountain trail run, as a way to introduce trail running as well as national tourism.
Nefo Ginting is no stranger to Indonesian diving and climbing scene. With his countless  experiences and friends in many places, he had no trouble getting things started.
Hendricus Mutter was the Chief of Indonesian Mountain Climbing federation and is still active on the climbing scene. Cartenz Pyramid and The Himalaya were some of the places he’s climbed.
If you’re ever planning on hiking, Djawa Wijoyo Kusumo is the man you need to go to, He knows every step of the way plus his survival skill is second to none.
las but definitely not least is rudy Ansyah, a seasoned finisher in many trail run events in the veteran category.
I need to mention the people above because without them, Mt. Rinjani Ultra Trail 2013 wouldn’tve happened in the first place.
It was such an honor to finally have an international trail running event being held in Indonesia. It literally was a dream come true.
We have so many beautiful terrains just waiting to be explored.

I need to go way back to Oct 2010.
Kinabalu climbathon. It was said to be one of the toughest trail running in the world. A lot of high profile world runners participated, such as Kilian Jornet , Marco De Gaspari. We had more than 600 participants and only 115 managed to get to the finish line. Some didn’t finish, and many others were only there to just for the sake of it, with no target to finish it. I was one of whom didn’t get to finish on time. Of the 3,5 hours of the given time for the veteran category (over 40 y.o)  i only managed to get to 150 m to the top.
I was thankful and with no regrets. I gave my best shot. While i was there i realized i was one of the only 5 participants from Indonesia. While many were from nearby Asian countries such as Singapore, Philipine, Japan. Malaysia, which was the host, had the most participants, of course.
Indonesia needed to have similar, if not better events in the near future.

Local dances started the opening of the race. Right at 00.00 on the 17th of August, right on Indonesia’s independence day, 82 participants started at Senaru. At 600m high. Most are international trail runners while some are from here. many were even beginners.
The 1st track was rocky gravels, 6 km to the 1st post. Hiking to 2600 masl on the 2nd, within 10km.
Was an overwhelming track both mentally and physically. Lots of steep ups and downs. Most were without safety fences.
With only a small glimpse of light from the headlight, which was compulsory. The sky was fortunately not cloudy. The moonlight and the star helped the sights a bit.
The next track was the downhill run to Segara Anak lake. A lake that resides in kalderagunung Rinjani, Sembalun Lawang village,  Lombok, Nusa Tenggara Barat. The name Segara Anak means child of the sea given to the blue colour of the lake reminiscent of the sea. It was on less than 2000 masl.
From here the track were less tough than the previous ones. It was dirt and grass. The next track we’re back to the familiar toughness. It was filled with huge rocks. Slippery when raining, the next climb to the 4th post were also steep and exhausting.
The 4th post were the make-it-or-break-it point which decided if the participant could go on to the top of Rinjani with cut off time 10 hours from start.
The expert runners would’ve been able to get to the top in one hour. And 45 mins of running back down. While beginners would need at least twice as long.
We have a term here, called the 2-1 step, which means  2 steps up followed by 1 step downhill.
It was really an exhausting track.
It spread around 3-8 to the top. The view, however, is magnificent, right from Senaru, especially all the way to Segara Anak lake.
Back to Plawangan, the 4th post. The rule was once you passed the 10 hrs cut off time to the top, participants are obligated to take an evacuation track. Which means you can’t go to start in Senaru, but to Sembalun. While the rest who can still carry on, after going down from the top of Rinjani (5th post) they have to go back to post 6th, the farthest before Sembalun. with cut off time  of 3hrs, they could go back to post 4 before finishing up at Senaru, where the starting point is.
Out of the 82 participants of MRU, only 10 managed to finish under the time given.
It was a general agreement that this was the toughest track they’ve ever experienced. Even compared to the 100 km.
At first there were a lot of disappointments from the ones who couldn’t finish. But after, they were also proud to have been a part of the first indonesian trail running event. The toughest one to boot.
The race has finished, but the memory will not.
The race that every local runners have been waiting for, and luckily a lot of international participants enjoyed too.
Last August Hendra Wijaya finished his UTMB, The good news were quickly followed with another good news, the one that’s also been long awaited.
Mt. RInjani was qualified 2 of points for UTMB 2014. Thanks God.
The achievement couldn’tve been done without the support by the originators, sponsors, Government Agencies, fellow track runner from across the world ; Barbara Oravetz , Franc Girardot and team, Maggie Kim Hong Yeo, Allan Lee, Senaru’s official volunteers, hopefully could also bring good spirits on the upcoming events.
Here’s to making better upcoming events, more challenging, in places with even more breathtaking views.

The road has finally been paved. Hopefully Indonesia could be the world’s ultra trail running destination or at least Asean. No one can stop our intention to grow further from here on.
See you in Bromo Tengger Semeru 100 Ultra.
